Douching actually increases the risk of bacterial vaginosis. That’s right, when you douche you are removing the good bacteria in your vagina. Understanding that your vagina is a self cleaning machine, will put you miles ahead in the health department than those that continue to douche.
Bacterial vaginosis occurs when the good bacteria and bad bacteria necessary to maintain a healthy balance in the vagina are imbalanced. But you maybe still saying to yourself “Mom never told me it was bad for me and told me I always should”. Consider the following list a sure sign of problems caused by douching and you may just stop this bad habit today.
Do you have frequent yeast infections?
Vaginal discharge with a smelly odor?

These are just a few signs that your vagina may be imbalanced and that you should stop douching immediately. Besides the above factors, you are actually putting your self at risk for many different vaginal infections including, candida or “yeast infections”, bacterial vaginosis, Trichomoniasis vaginosis, Chlamydia vaginosis, viral vaginosis and non-infectious vaginosis.
The good news is, there is in alternative to douching and its simple. Simply hand wash “down there” when you take a bath. Plain water externally is fine and all that is needed.
